By Langston Hughes

"Hope"

Sometimes when I'm lonely,
Don't know why,
Keep thinkin' I won't be lonely,
By and by.

(I like Langston Hughes because he was always looking for a home.)

Kurt Vonnegut said we're all lonely because we don't live in large families. With large extended families we have so many people that are close to us. And if one lived in a family of, say, 25 people, the various psychological needs can more apropriately be met.

Then he says that he's lonely.

I've always considered that no one person will ever come close to fulfilling all my needs.

We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl year after year.

So then what're you gonna do, Joe? Marry 25 women, one to meet each need?
